I did it boys! I COLOSSALLY fucked up today!

Jman and I were putting a coffin back together and we were both putting the fans back on and it slipped out of our hands and hit the coil. Had to evacuate the store since there was so much gas blowing out.

Hand valves were not holding very well but we got it all patched back up. Lost about 100# of gas. Our company is handling it, boss is totally cool about everything, he seems much less concerned than either of us.

What are some of your guy's epic fuck ups?

Refrigerator question

This is a consumer appliance question. Apologies if this is out of bounds, but it was suggested in another subreddit and I suspect folks here might be the right knowledge-holders for this particular issue.

I have a refrigerator that stopped cooling. Visibly functioning in terms of power, lights, etc., but no cool. Repair tech #1 came out and proclaimed the compressor was bad, and to try for warrantee coverage. Coverage was obtained for the part only, and I paid for the replacement.

After that, freezer and ice worked, but fresh food compartment only cooled to low 60's (F). Repair guy is stumped, claims he flushed and tested both evaporator circuits, so it couldn't be a leak or a clogged line, figures it might be the step valve, might be a board issue. Offers me the choice of exploratory replacement of the step valve at my cost, or a refund on the compressor labor. I take the refund.

Tech #2 comes out, measures the pressure at around -20, and proclaims there's a leak in the system. Enough coolant left apparently to freeze the freezer and make ice, but not enough to cover the fresh food compartment. Thinks this leak is most likely at the install/solder points on the compressor where it was replaced. Offers to refill it at my cost, but said it was probably pointless. Didn't want to touch the work of tech #1 but said I should get him to stand by his workmanship and fix it.

Tech #1 says, that's low-side pressure and doesn't indicate a leak, and asks what's the high-side pressure. (Me: no idea)

Who's right?
